If poor weather conditions persist and the event is cancelled prior to tee-off, all participants will be issued a raincheck good for 1 year from the date of the outing. We will make every effort to eat dinner, especially if the outing is cut short due to poor weather. If dinner is cancelled, the cost of the dinner will be refunded. The balance of the entry fee excluding the cost of golf and dinner is a donation to the University maintained UMBAA scholarship endowment.
Scramble Format: All four team members tee off on each hole and choose which tee shot they like the best and mark the spot. The other players pick up their balls and place it within one club length of the marked spot. All four players hit their shot from the chosen spot. This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts. Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score. If the ball you choose to play is in a hazard (sand, water, etc.), or the rough, you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard or rough even if relief is within one club length. Each team member must use at least one tee shot during the both the front and back nine holes. Make a note on the scorecard to indicate whose tee shot was used on each hole. Team Tie Breaker: Review the scores of the matching cards beginning with the number 1 handicap hole. Continue with the number 2 handicap hole, etc. until the tie is broken. Play from the white tees. Women may use the ladies tees. Please keep pace with the group in front of you.
Straightest Drive: Hole #11
A line is drawn down the center of the fairway with either chalk or rope. The winner is designated by the player who hits his or her tee shot closest to the line. Distance is not the objective here, accuracy is!
Longest Drive: Men - Hole #1, Women - Hole #10
If your drive is the longest, write your name on the marker card and place the marker in the ground on the spot where your ball came to rest. The ball must be in the cut fairway to count. Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else hits a longer drive. That person should repeat the procedure of writing their name on the card below the other names and place the marker at the spot.
Closest to the Pin : Men - Hole #5, Women - Hole #14
If your tee shot is closest to the hole, write your name on the marker card and place the marker in the ground on the spot where your ball came to rest. Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else hits a closer shot. That person should repeat the procedure of writing their name on the card below the other names and place the marker at the spot.
